Where do I go?
When you arrive to the Vineyard Church, drive around to the back of the building to park. There you will see glass double doors that have a sign stating our food shelf hours and policies. This is where you’ll enter the building. These doors will remain locked until the food shelf opens.

If you need to use a restroom, while you are waiting outside, please knock on the door to the left of the double doors that is labeled "Staff and Volunteers Only." A staff person will let you in to use the restroom located inside the food shelf.

What do I need to bring?
For your first visit, you’ll be asked to provide an ID for yourself and all members in your household. Acceptable identification include a drivers license, birth certificate, social security card, passport, or state ID. You will not be expected to show proof of address or income verification. You may be asked to fill out a short form that verifies your eligibility to receive government commodities. At subsequent visits, you will only need to bring your own ID and the check in process will go much quicker.

What if I have dietary restrictions?
Food shelf volunteers may offer you a pre-packaged bag of items that has the essentials such as canned fruits and vegetables, boxed dinners, and pasta. If you have any dietary restrictions, just let your personal shopper know and they will help you avoid those items and supplement them with others that fit into your diet.

What if I have other questions?
The intake volunteer can answer any questions you have about the Fruit of the Vine and the Vineyard Church. If you have questions during the week, you can call the office at 218-525-3462.

Getting Prayer
During your visit, you may be asked if you would like prayer. Our volunteers love to pray for people! We know that we all struggle in this life and that we all need to lean on God to get through it. We would love to hear your prayer requests and pray for you right on the spot! Don’t worry, we won’t do anything hokey! We just want to invite Jesus to come bring peace and healing into your life. We will never force or coerce you to receive prayer, but we always want to offer the opportunity for prayer if you do so desire.

How it Works
Our food shelf operates on a first come, first served basis. We serve everyone in line and promise that each family will get the same amount of food proportional to family size. Often times, the guests who arrive first will begin a running list of names based on when people arrive. If you see a person taking down names, kindly give them your name to reserve your spot. If there is not a person creating a list, please be mindful of the number of cars in the parking lot who arrived before you. You are welcome to wait outside or in your car until the food shelf doors open. The food shelf director will begin passing out numbers 30 minutes prior to the food shelf doors opening. The food shelf director will do their best to respect your number in line.

When you enter the building, you will see an intake desk in the hallway and your number will be called by the intake volunteer. When you approach the desk, you can expect to be warmly greeted by a trusted volunteer who will keep your information confidential. At the completion of the intake process, you will be given a "family size" card that will state the number of people in your household which will determine the amount of food you will receive.

After you have been registered, you will enter the food shelf area. Help yourself to free coffee, water, and treats available on the table. Then make yourself comfortable and chat with the other guests until your number is called. Depending on your number, you may have to wait up to 60 minutes to shop. We can assure you that the volunteers will do their best to get everyone through the line in a timely and efficient manner.

Once your number is called again, you will approach the counter to pick out your meat and dairy items, as available. Then you will be introduced to your personal shopper who will guide you through the grocery aisles to pick out your food. During busy times, the food shelf volunteers may offer you a pre-packaged bag of items that has the essentials such as canned fruits and vegetables, boxed dinners, and pasta. Having pre-packaged bags helps the line move much faster.

You will also be able to choose a certain number of miscellaneous items, bread, and fresh produce. Once through the line, volunteers will weigh your food and enter the poundage into our database. This allows us to ensure that each family is receiving an equal amount. Finally, a volunteer will be available to help you carry your groceries to your car. If you need a ride to the bus stop, please notify the food shelf director and they will do their best to assist you.

We can’t wait to meet you!
