The St. James Food Pantry Hours:
Wednesday 6:00pm - 8:00pm

The St. James Food Pantry operates under the umbrella of the Churches United hunger ministry.  This hunger ministry has 24 food pantries responding to over 18,000 needs for meals annually throughout Rock Island and Scott Counties. Over 100 churches and other organizations contribute money or food and scores of volunteers to operate them.  St. James Food Pantry is lucky to be one of them.

The St. James Food Pantry is housed at St. James Lutheran Church.  The volunteers include church members, members of the Masonic Lodge, community members, high school students, boy scouts, and girl scouts.  Generous community support provides monetary and food donations.  Pancake breakfasts have been held by a girl scout troop as fundraisers.  A trivia night was held by St. James Lutheran Church as a fundraiser.

St. James Food Pantry  visitors are asked to space their visits 30 days apart.  No one is ever turned away from the St. James Food Pantry and leaves empty-handed.  Visitors receive a pre-packaged box of items containing canned goods, cereal, pasta, macaroni and cheese, skillet helper, fruit juice, and assorted snacks if available.  They also receive one gallon of milk, one stick of butter/margarine, one dozen eggs, and two protein (venison, ground beef, hotdogs, ham, etc. - whatever is in stock at the pantry at the time of their visit). Our visitors can also request hygiene products such as laundry soap, dish detergent, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, diapers, and feminine hygiene products.  If such items available, they will receive those requested items as well.
