I receive your Christmas Box and got a turkey that expired in August of 2020 which I can't eat because it's expired and it could make me sick. I don't understand why you think it's okay to give expired food out, I am happy for the food that I got that wasn't expired though. I called the food bank and talked to a lady about switching the turkey for one that wasn't expired and she hung up on me which is very rude, I was being very nice and respectful to her. I have left several messages and I am also going to be calling the new station to let them know about this story. I don't think it's fair that that lady hung up on me and that I got a turkey that I can't eat, why give out free food if you can't eat it.

I completely agree with the previous poster. We just moved to Billings as my husband took a new job. The rent is so high here we struggled trying to find a house and when we did, it eats up over 1/2 of our income. What's left is needed for utilities and food. With 3 children and making sure my husband has a sack lunch to take to work every day, we struggle to provide enough food for our family. I put off going to the food bank as long as I could - until it became imperative. Once there, I was treated with the exact same rudeness the previous poster referred to. I struggled trying to understand the directions that were given me to obtain my food and when I accidentally grabbed the wrong thing I was snapped at. If that wasn't bad enough, I ended up having to throw away about 1/4 of the food because it was expired (like, 3 years expired). Our church has been discussing donating funds through some missions fundraisers we are doing. Billings Food Bank has been brought up as one of the places to potentially give to... however, I would rather turn that money into starting our own food pantry through our church and love on those who come for help rather than shun and ridicule them. Most are like us... just trying to get by.

I found the staff to be quite rude. I just moved here from Missoula and the first time going to the foodbank here they treated me like it was a burden to them to help me. I told them I had never been there before and pretty much ignored me. Luckily there was a gentleman there getting a food box as well that was kind and helped walk me through what I was supposed to be doing. The second time I went they were rude as well they turned me away because it hasn't been 30 days since my last visit. I have 3 kids and had very little food for them. So what if I absolutely had no food? I thought they were there to help families in need not turn families in need away. I have been to the food bank in Missoula and they were always kind and more than willing to help. I never felt like they were out out by helping me. And even when I needed assistance more than once in 30 days they were still more than happy to help me out. I am just in awe at the rudeness of the staff here in billings.
