Catholic Charities Dorothy Day Center serves multiple functions. During the day, the 34-year-old Dorothy Day Center provides meals, mental health services and medical care, showers, and much more to help people experiencing homelessness. Catholic Charities Housing First staff work to help guests move from Dorothy Day Center into permanent housing.
After dinner has been served, the tables and chairs are put away to transform the building into a bedroom. At night, Dorothy Day Center becomes an emergency shelter, providing a safe place for more than 200 people to get rest on mats just inches apart.
Nightly emergency shelter is provided for single adult men and women on a first come, first serve basis. The shelter is open every day. Nighttime services start at 8:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 a.m.

Dorothy Day Womens Shelter and temporary housing
The Dorothy Day Womens Shelter provides shelter and temporary housing to 42 single women experiencing homelessness.
Located on the second floor of Dorothy Day Center, the womens shelter offers 24-hour shelter with 42 bunk beds and supportive services to help women address barriers to housing and employment.
