I just returned from the food pantry. I have gone from making 75000 a year to being very ill and unable to work. It is hard enough for me to have to need a food pantry. This is the second time I was completley degraded and treated horribly. The older woman that checks names for the third time questioned the fact that I live in middleport. asking where my house is and if its a house or do I rent.I have already brought in all needed proof . The last time the same woman asked me twice why I come alone if I have a family and im married. questioned how many kids I have and where they were on a school day at 10:30. She said other people are in real need. I couldnt be more in need. I have 5 children and yes a husband. He lost his income from having to take care of me during my terminal l illness.I was forced to take bags with 5 tomato soups and a cereal my kids dont like by another woman. who actually grabbed the bags I chose out of my hand and had her grand daughter carry the bags she wanted me to take.I asked if I could switch the cereal and was told If my kids wont eat it leave it for others. When I drove a friend in the beginning of the month they let him go back and pick his cereal. he also told me he gets milk and lbs of meat. frozen bread.ectI have never been offered this. I am horrified by the way I have been treated. This is not the first time I have been degraded and humiliated by your so called volunteers. I will never return. and plan on making this public. no one should be treated like this in their time of need. Its hard enough to need help.I left in tears. The bags are not ever the same. I always look to see the pasta , cereal, fruit. to make sure its best for my family. This has never been a problem. as long as you take to same number. No one goes to a food pantry because they dont want to pay for food. They need help feeding their family. And to be treated like this is not right on any level. This is the last time I will be humiliated.
