      First I want to thank you for all the assistance, food and pleasant employees that have received in the last 4 yrs. I am disabled and on SSI and a single parent at the age of 55, my son is 13. My son receives $15 food stamps. I depend on the pantry to help with the last two weeks of the month. I don't have a car and family support. I do have a community service worker through swope and I meet with her twice a month. The first of the month she takes me shopping, were I buy for the entire month. Then she takes me to the pantry towards the end. Since July when your system changed, and all the nice workers ( volunteers) are no longer there. The new receptionist, seems to highly focus on their lunch, and uses the option to turn away people in need of food. Odd.....the quality of donations have really decreased, nor have I seen much bread, no pastries as I did before the change. Is this due to the opening of you New Cafe/Coffee place of business? Surely, The Community Service League wouldn't take from the people here in Indep that truly needs the help for their families, for a new place of business? The attitude, with the volunteers has changed and seems to be confused to the new system, not has friendly and definitely slower process, were the waiting room is backed up, and in return the receptionist closes the morning hours short because lunches for them are a BIG Priority, over serving families indeed. Yesterday, I arrived at 10:15 and the receptionist wanted to turn me away. Another employee fixed me a small grocery bag, but wasn't anything as to I normally get. I depend on the pantry, and like where I can choose, its very important to help plan meals. Opposed to one small bag of food that, didn't improve my pantry at home. Especially, the Holiday next week. I am not feeling the staff really wants to help people anymore there and we are an inconvenience to them and their lunch. No compassion anymore. My caseworker with swope has witnessed the change and makes her job seem incomplete. She travels all the way from Swope on blue parkway. She has many caseloads, her time is valuable but the last two months we've been denied, due to the staffs lunch priorities. Last month I arrived at 11:10 and was turned away with the lobby empty. Yesterday 10:15 and again was a problem. Much slower pace now. Thank you Patricia Malone. PS I hope my opinion doesn't affect my son Christmas Bag that I have signed up for.
