GEDCO's CARES serves families and individuals in crisis by connecting our customer-clients with resources that enable movement towards self-sufficiency. These resources include food and emergency financial assistance services. CARES continues to be run by an extremely dedicated team, consisting of one full time and one part time employee, and over 100 volunteers. We serve emergency, as needed or referral from dss or the community we try to stay in our zip code 21215 but we are emergency. All they need is proof of address we take calls or walk in Monday-Wednesday and thursdays we give the food out. They can call the church at the phone number provided. We also have a soup kitchen. We meet our clients where they are. For most people, that means delivering healthy meals directly to their doorsteps. But some people with life-threatening illnesses are homeless - they have no doorsteps of their own - and over 50% of homeless citizens are at high risk for HIV/AIDS and other chronic medical conditions. The Community Assistance Network, inc (CAN) provides emergency food to income eligible Baltimore County residents. The Emergency Food Package is meant only as a supplement and provides enough food for approximately 5 to 7 days.
